Child Support Archives

What is the California State Disbursement Unit?

When it comes to paying or receiving child support in the state of California, there is a lot that you need to know. If everything works out as planned, and both parties live up to their end of the court agreement, there is not likely to be any issues. Unfortunately, there are times when this does not happen.

Keep children out of child support battles with ex

Divorces can sometimes be nasty and as many Californians can attest, it can be tempting to badmouth the ex in front of the children. While it’s normal to want to release your frustrations to a confidante, keep the kids out of it – especially when it comes to child support issues. Watching a mother and father battle it out in court – or even seeing their parent in jail – due to non-payment issues can negatively affect a child’s relationship with one or both parents. This can continue even into adulthood.

More women are now paying child support

There used to be a time when it was extremely uncommon for women to pay child support or alimony. When this did happen, it often involved a celebrity or other individuals with high net worth. In today's world, from California to Florida, a growing number of women are paying child support and/or alimony.
