Questions regarding who gets child custody

On Behalf of | Mar 7, 2016 | Child Custody

As you go through divorce in California, nothing changes the fact that you need to keep the best interests of your children in mind. This is the approach the court will take, so you should do the same.

At some point, you may have questions regarding child custody. This typically leads to one very important question: Who gets custody of the children?

Unfortunately, there is no set answer to this question. It depends on a variety of factors, with the court always looking after the best interest of the child.

Here are a few other questions that you may need to address at some point:

— Is the court 100 percent in charge of deciding who gets custody of the children?

— How long does it take for a judge to decide on matters of child custody?

— What types of details does the court consider when deciding on matters of child custody?

— Is it possible for somebody other than a parent to obtain custody of a child?

As you answer these questions, it will become clear that this process can be complex and confusing. Even so, you cannot simply move on as this is a big deal for all parties involved.

Any question regarding child custody is one that is worth answering as soon as possible. If you neglect to do so, you may find it difficult coming to grips with the end result.

In the end, as long as you are happy with how your child is being cared for, nothing else matters. You need to put any children above every other aspect of divorce.
